Wood Elf Druid
A commission taken in March 2018 for a D&D player’s wood elf druid character. The original idea was to have him leaning back against a tree in a similar pose, but after I played around with some composition, we decided to have him laying on a large tree branch.
I used a brush to help create the foliage and the wood bark texture. In the background, I wanted to use a slight sense of transparency to make it feel like you’re staring down into an impossibly tall forest from so high up that you can’t see the ground. A bit of masked adjustment layers helped create the gentle glows and darker shadows below the main branch. And, of course, a masked layer on top of it all created the leaf shadows on the foreground figure and branch.
